I didn’t work out as hard as I probably should’ve last week. But I’m ready to get back on track now! I downloaded a bunch of songs to add to my ipod for a little extra motivation and wanted to share some with you guys! Can’t wait to get back to crossfitting tonight!!
I have officially registered to do the Tough Mudder on Aug 18.
For those of you who don’t know what it is:
“Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. “ -Taken from the official TM website
I knew obstacle courses like this existed for awhile now, but never really trained or had the guts to even consider doing one. Well, I’M DOING IT THIS YEAR! I began doing crossfit quite vigorously in preparation for the TM. However, starting today, I’ll be doing some intensive strength training (upper/lower) as well. I’ll definitely need the upper body strength to get through some of the obstacles.
Hey guys! I just wanted to share some more songs I’ve added to my workout playlist
Audio Push – Turn it up Gorilla Zoe – I got it Bei Maejor ft Trey Songz – Drinks on me Timbaland ft Veronica – Give it a go Skrillex – Weekend Tyga - Make it Nasty Drake - HYFR Lil Wayne - No quitter go getter
Songs I’m really feeling right now: Swedish House Mafia (Third Party Remix) – Save the World
Today I woke up feeling completely exhausted (I think it was because of yesterdays sprint). Not only that. but I experienced some seriously sporadic and wicked cramps throughout the day. I popped a few advils hoping that I would feel well enough to workout around my usual time. Although I did eventually feel a bit better, I couldn’t workout outside because of the rain. After dinner, I felt incredibly restless so I decided to hit the gym for a change.
I didn’t push 100% because of my how my body was feeling, but did workout enough to get my daily dose of endorphin’s. Tonight I focused mainly on core.ab exercises.
3 set of: 20-15-10 reps
-Weighted Squats (20kg/ 44lbs)
-Stability situp (feet off the ground) + russian twist (with 8lb medicine ball) = one rep
-Leg Lift Variation (Leg lift, Star Crunch, and Butt Lift as one rep)
-Oblique variation (Hip Dippers)
-kettle ball front raise snatch (10kg)
[100m sprint + 100m jog] x 10 reps =2km (that’s 5 full rounds across the track)
Very first attempt: 12 min Second attempt: 12 min, 6 sec Today: 11 mins, 18 sec
exactly how I felt towards the very end.
I was pushing it as hard as I could, and sprinted the last 200m (instead of 100m), hoping and praying that I would be able to get back to the 12 minute mark. So I was pretty shocked and esctatic when my boyfriend told me I finished in 11 mins, 18 sec.
Afterwords, I did:
double under = 15 reps
kettle ball front raise snatch = 20 reps
tire flip = 35 flips
The goal was to do a total of 4 sets, however I was getting mauled by stupid bugs and couldn’t tolerate it anymore so I decided to call it a day.
Regardless, I feel pretty damn accomplished today! Reaching that 10 min mark doesn’t seem so distant anymore
I don’t understand why it is so difficult to find some decent workout music online ( ones that aren’t borderline archaic.)
I swear, 1 out of 3 website/playlist I find, have Eye of the Tiger as one of the top recommendations. Okay fine, it’s a pretty sweet song, but come on, can you say cliche?? I mean really, how many times and for how long can you possibly listen to the damn song before it drives you crazy!
I don’t know about you, but even though I enjoy housemusic/electro, I’m really not a big fan of 10 minute intros. Consequently, unless they are shorter variations, I avoid them altogether during my workouts.
I like listening to upbeat music, preferably songs with lyrics to keep me distracted (especially when I’m out jogging).
In an attempt to be of service to all of you, I have decided to share some of the songs I listen to when I work out. Hopefully you like them! I would also love to know what kind of music you listen to during your workouts as well!
